Got an idea for a new Women’s Contemporary fiction book.
I was talking to a friend the other day, and she was telling me about this huge conundrum that she’s in. I thought that I would the scenario for a new book. Then I thought I would send it out, have you guys respond to it, and then whoever has the best answer, I’ll base the ending of the book on what they wrote back to me. You’ll get partial credit for the concept, be acknowledged at the end of the book for your contributions, and get some fame out of it lol.
However, there are some stipulations for answers:
  1. You Can Not answer in a Christian tone, (i.e, you’re goin to hell in gasoline draws, God is gonna punish you, or the Bible says blazay, blazay….)
  2. She is NOT a hoe, so I won’t accept answers like that.
  3. Give serious answers, on what you think she should do.
  4. Whichever is the best answer I’m gonna use for the ending of the book.
My friend and I were having coffee the other day, and I asked how her love life was going. She started laughing hysterically, and then commenced to tell me about it. She’d been dating this older guy, (she’s 35) for over a year now, but they have absolutely nothing common. (Yes sometimes this is good, but others it can be a disaster, which is what they are.) They have nothing in common whatsoever.
My friend, we’ll just say Emma, is a progressive liberal-near socialist, and he’s a conservative. They have nothing in common, except sex, (here she says it is off the chain hahaha). The sex is amazing, but they can’t have a normal conversation without it turning into an argument. Yet, despite this craziness, s says that he is a very sweet person (I’ve met him a couple of times and other than his spews of bollix on social issues he seemed nice enough). He does anything to make her happy, but he won’t see anyone else’s views as valid. He constantly talks shite about anything other than his views or beliefs, like the fact that education is a rip off, professors are shysters ( here you know I wanted to punch him the f*** out!) but they have been together for a year and she loves him to some degree; (but I think it’s more that she’s comfortable, he’s dependable, and she feels like since she’s 35 she doesn’t want to get out there in the meat market of dating).
Well, she happened to be at starbucks getting coffee and some guy asked what she was ordering out of the blue, and she turned to see who it was, and she said she was like wow( I know, already an intro for a book lol, I just need to make him extra yummy lol). They started talking, and he asked her for coffee the following week.
She decided to go, and said that she had a blast.
Here in lies her problem; she found out that he was only 26 years old (hahahahaha! Yes, I feel like use and abuse him for all of us over 35 year old women!).
He is everything that she wants. He’s funny, caring, likes the things that she likes, is kewl wit her 12 year old son, notices things, (like she got a hair cut, lost weight) and she has been dating him on the side for the last 4 months. Well, it’s been 4 months, but she hasn’t told the other guy that she’s been dating the 26 year old.
Last week she said it got intimate, and here I’m sorry but I couldn’t help laughing, because she said that the 26 year old he was only 5’9 and hung like a horse! (LmmfaO, Hahahahaha!).
Well, my answer to this could have gone several way. But seeing as how we’ve been friends for over a decade, she already knows what I’m gonna say to her. So I thought, I’d put it out there to you guys, and see what you thought? I already told her that I was gonna use it for a women’s fiction, so go ahead and give me your best.
She said that she was reluctant to make a choice, and I asked her why; this is what she said.
  1. She’s 35 years old with a 12 year old son, and could she really have a relationship of significance with a 26 year old?
  2. The 43 year old is stability, even if he is a dick most of the time
  3. What if next week the 26 year old decided to date someone his own age, and where does that leave her if she gives up the 43 year old?
  4. Although she is totally enraptured with the 26 year old, he wants things that she doesn’t (children, marriage), and wants her to want the same.
So, here is what you have to answer;
What would you advise her to do?
C’mon y’all make em good. Whichever is the best is the one that I’m gonna use for the book, will be posted on all my book sites, and you get credit for your answer if I use it. Leave them on the shout outs page
The contest for the free digital copy of Teaching between Midnight and Dawn is still going strong ( go to shout outs). The contest end date is Dec 23rd, so get your shout outs in by then if you want to win. By leaving a shout out, you're automatically entered for a chance to win. Thanks a bunch Alie~

Halloween... muhahahah! :)

Well its October, and lots of fun stuff to do.

Isn't this just the most awesome time for Vamps, Werewolves, Shape-shifters, Witches, Warlocks and Ghosties! I can't wait till pint size vamps come knocking on my door.
I love to watch the kids in my neighborhood dress up, and some of the costumes of the teenagers are just completely insane, crazy and hysterically funny.
Last year, I passed out candy and had a blast. Well, very unsuspectingly I opened the door and what greeted me, nearly killed me with laughter. I was laughing so hard that I couldn't pass out the candy, and my 20 year old daughter took the bowel from me rolling her eyes, was like freak in my direction and passed out the candy out for me because I couldn't stop laughing!

Well anyway, at my door was this kid about 13 years old. He had taken his shirt, rolled it through itself and made a knot at his chest, had on a multicolored long flowing wig, sweats and high heels. When I asked through laughter what he was, he said with a smile and his hand on his hip; "Ima Down Town Girl". I swear I couldn't stop laughing! That made my complete night. Needless to say, I was done after that, and my mom took over while my daughter and I went to a Halloween party.

Tis the witching season mates, poke around and have some fun! :)

Single is not a dirty word, nor a Shakespearian tragedy

Hey thar!

So, I should totally be asleep, especially with a 6:30 am wake up call, but for some reason I just had to write. Why is it that to be single and divorced is like a four letter word? After looking at several different on-line dating sites, I had the audacity to join one, and boy was I shocked. It seems that unless you want to shell out nearly 400 bucks a year for EH, troll Star Bucks, make a b-line for Paddy's pub, or revert to your twenties again and hit up the night club scene; you are destine to join the hundreds of free ones, where every womanizer, playa, p.i.m.p and miscreant seems to just lurk in the shadows.

I found this quite hilarious actually. If you aren't naked, down to your skivvies, have an i.q. above a turnip; or basically have some respect for yourself, than you are doomed to the average pile. I did some trolling of my own, and found that most men on these sites have no clue what the woman is all about. The ones who say, "I want something real, No gamers, and only serious women need apply", are even funnier than the idea of being on a dating site in the first place.

I found this out, (granted he was very handsome) when a gentleman sent me a message. I am by nature a Feminist, lol, progressive liberal and a socialist. I was kinda confused why a very active conservative would message me and ask me for a date? I couldn't stop laughing, and that just proves my point; that they don't actually care what the women on the site have to say, they go for the looks. Granted, there are people out there who can leave their political callings out of the bedroom, but they are very few and wide. Not to mention, when I looked at his page he was against homosexual marriage. C'mon! I'm a liberal!

Yet, I won't just knock the guys. The women are just as bad, and I did find myself actually saying hello to men that I had to go back later and actually read their profile; because I was turned by a yummy face :) Despite all of the lovely trappings, I'm sad to say that this saddens me :(

What we are really seeing is that there is a lack of communication. Granted, this is the 21st century, and there is mass media, like text, emails, IMing, facebook, your book and my book, cell phones that actually let you see the person you're talking with and the like; however, each and everyone of these is lacking something. That connection, person to person, face to face interaction.

I'm almost afraid to see what the future actually does hold. Will there be no more libraries? (I would just shrivel up and die). Will we communicate through video without ever coming in actual contact with the other person; and sex is like that one scene from Silvester Stallone's Demolition Man, where he and Sandra Bullock have a sexual interlude via neural transmitters? hahah!

So, you ask, what is this thing called dating, on-line dating, bar hoping, clubing and the lot? I have no F*&^%$n clue. But Single is not a dirty word, nor a Shakespearean Tragedy. In the words of the illustrious Medea, "I can do bad all by ma damn self ". :)

Writing Perspectives...

New authors, writers, published and anything in between...

I decided to write a paranormal book from my own cultural perspective. I'm Latin (Puerto Ricania/ Cubanita), Irish, African-American and Native American. Yet, I wanted my characters to reflect who I was, but incorporate other cultures as well. My books center on the myths of Ast`/the Egyptian Goddess Isis, Osiris, Horus both Elder and Infant, Thoth, the Underworld, the legends of the first wolf King linked to Romulus and Remus, the Goddess Sekhmet, the Japanese Sun Goddess, Finnish and Keltic legends, Ancient Church societies like the Brotherhood, the Avantes and Flaminie, Wyatt and Surrey, , Spartacus, Merlin, Shamanistic Rituals and the legend of the ancient Blackfeet; and Teaching. I've written 10 1/2 paranormals so far, (Teaching Between Midnight and Dawn Series) 3 Historical Romance, and 1 Contemporary Women's fiction. My first book to be published was Teaching Between Midnight and Dawn by Eternal Press on Aug 7th of this year.

Anyway, I thought that I would take what we know of the paranormal genre, and instead of making the main character like this kick ass detective, hunter, or private dick; I decided to throw a bunch of teachers in the mix, who had historical knowledge of what vampires, wolves and ghosties were all about; but would never in a million years believe it was true.

This my friends was...the...hardest...idea to sell to anyone!

Lol, but finally I did. I got a bunch of rejection letters that were both painful and insightful; but I will say that the most hilarious one that I got (won't embarrass the editor because she wasn't prejudice, just more like ignorant; and she apologized profusely later) was from this company, who looked at my last name (INFANTE`) and assumed that the accents that my Scottish werewolves have were actually typos. She said that the book was very entertaining, but she was very concerned about my language skills, then suggested that I take an English as a second language course. Needless to say, I laughed hysterically, sent her an email back and told her that not only was I a teacher, but the characters had accents.

After that, my sister gave me this lil book called, "Dirty Rotten Rejections," and I still laugh every time that I think about that one. The book was very uplifting, and told of the plights that other very well known authors went through. Huckleberry Fin was rejected 35 times, E.T, 28, and a host of others. I bet the studios who rejected E.T are still kickin their own asses! hahaha!

I wanted to start this blog because although we live in the 21st century, there are vast wrongly sighted stereotypes, labels, ethnic discrimination and beliefs that continue to be perpetuated out there in the real world. The very idea that a publishing company would think that the average soccer mom wouldn't want to read my book, because the main female character is Half Caucasian and Half African seems preposterous to me. But many of the editors that I have spoken to in the last five years swear that this is true. They themselves are in no way prejudice ( at least they didn't sound like it), it is just that this is still a business; and they want to be able to market what the know they can sell, (Hence Twilight. I have no prob wit Steph, I'm just not a fan. But I am a fan of her popularity, hook a sustah up Steph!)

Notwithstanding, at the same time, I think it is equally unfair to be pigeonholed into one specific section ( like because I'm mixed my books should be in either the African-American section, or the Latina. This stems from that antediluvian idea of that ole`"One Drop" rule bollix that continues to be preserved.

This blog is not only about my books, but it is also for those of you who feel like I do, and want to vent lol, or just talk and swap ideas about the paranormal genre and what we think would make it even better than it already is. Paranormal and many of its origins; Voodoo, Necromancy, Mystic entrancement, Sangria, Wicca, Magick, Voulrdoron and a host of others; as well as the ancient spiritual workings that originated to begin with that many subscribe to today are not from Americans. So to classify them as one specific forum seems like complete bollix to me. Remember, America, Spain, as well as Rome wanted to stamp out anything that wasn't of a Christian/Catholic edict.

Writing, writing, and more writing...

Well hay my Lovelies!!!

Have you ever been in the thick, of writing, then all of a sudden you hit an enormous, flat out big flippin brick wall?
Well, that's how I felt yesterday. I am at the present working on book 11, and for some reason I'm stumped. I thought if maybe I read a lil, it would produce something; but that didn't work either. Not to mention, I don't like to read other people's work when I'm writing, because somehow the subconscious always seems to latch onto something from that person's work, and unfortunately you may, with no intention at all, plagiarize their work; so I stay clear when I'm writing.

So I am now stuck. I believe that the other ten book are amazing, if I may say so myself. Book two, Teach me the Night, in the series Teaching Between Midnight and Dawn is a lot more juicer than book one. You have more of the erotic, (which is a given, c'mon its Vamps! lol). You have the introduction of the Vampires, Saix and Sephoroth which the first book touched on, who are actually in command in this one. And god are they hot! I should know, lol, I made them that way.

But it picks up from where book one left off. You have a host of new characters entering; more werewolves from the Scottish Clan, but also Magnus, a 579 year old Warlock shows up to help; not to mention Tobey, the main character's twin brother. You have the first real glimpse of the Council and their debauchery, and wicked ways, more action, and of course Magick! Arieanna seems to only amplify. (spelled that way on purpose, it indicates ancient). But most importantly, the main characters Jobey and Saix find that ultimate, willing to give anything; even walk into daylight love, which is the center of each of the books.

Well, now I need some inspiration here lol, maybe its time for a trek to Starbucks. A green Tea frap sounds really-really good right now!

Bye for now guys!
